Mmeke’s Bicycle clinic project, Lesotho

Mmeke’s Bicycle clinic project is a very small Bicycle project in St Michaels community in the lowlands of Lesotho. My goal is to provide bicycles for the people both for sale and rent and repair them, if necessary.

My problem is, that it is hard to find bicycles to start the project.

I was now offered a set of ten bicycles for the amount of 5000 Maluti (350 USD, 340 Euro). I already have half of the amount ready, to buy the bicycles but still lack another 2500 Rand. I would be extremely grateful, if this crowdfunding helps me to reach this goal.

The minimum funding goal on gogetfunding is €251, so that’s why I put this amount. The rest of the money will be invested in additional bicycles or tools if possible.

I think a bike shop will be of great value for our community, because:

• It helps keeping kids from the streets busy and in good shape. Cycling can prevent them from crime or smoking.
• I already founded a kids' cycling club where kids between 5 and fourteen years can attend. But having more bicycles at our disposal would enable more children to join us.
• I want to encourage more girls to start cycling, which is very uncommon in Lesotho.

People in St Michaels are very excited about the bikes and want to ride them to school or to work.

Those who cannot afford buing a bicycle will be able to rent them at a very low cost.

I and everyone in our commuity will be very thankful to anyone who helps me to achieve this goal.

UPDATE December 15th 2016: Because of the great success we have had so far, I decided to raise the goal to 650 Euros, the equivalent of 9500 Rand. This will enable me to buy the bicycles an also buy a container which can be home to my little shop. Thank you all for your generosity!
