On the 2nd of June this year I plan to head to Papua New Guinea (PNG for short) to work on the medical ship, the M/V YWAM PNG. On the ship I will be helping to teach people in the isolated villages of PNG basic health care techniques and we will provide basic tools to help them look after themselves. Please join in the work we're doing by donating anything you can. You can find more information below.

We Want To Live. This statement can be read across the faces of all in Papua New Guinea. Please support me that we, together might be able to give them a chance to live.

Who will I be working with?

I will be working with an organisation called Youth with a Mission (Ywam for short)  from their base in Townsville. I have spent the last six months studying at YWAM Townsville and while there I learned many things such as how to serve and connect with people, how to care and love and ways to help people in helping themselves.

What is a YWAM and what is YWAM Townsville?

Youth with a Mission (YWAM) is a worldwide Christian movement operating in more than 1,100 locations in over 180 countries. YWAM is a Christian charity that offers global opportunities for volunteers from diverse backgrounds to care, connect, serve and build with individuals and communities. YWAM is decentralised in structure and financially autonomous. This allows each centre to adapt and to serve the specific needs of the community.

YWAM Townsville has operated for over 20 years with an aim to build capacity in young people and to develop the community through four focus areas: Training, Medical Ships, Youth Teams, and Operations. YWAM values individuals’ rights to quality of life. The shared motivation is to provide people with:

  • Access to good health care
  • Food, drinking water and shelter
  • Opportunity for education
  • Expression of culture, arts and entertainment
  • Healthy relationships
  • Exposure to Christian faith and values
  • Fair and productive government Opportunity to work and develop

I strongly believe in the work that YWAM Townsville does in PNG and I cannot wait to be part of it too. I would also love for you to be part of it to!

How can you help?

How can you be part of it you ask? Being part of this does not mean going to PNG and working in the field. You can be part of it from where you are. By donating you are contributing to the work we do and you are improving people’s lives, without donations, this work could not happen.

Please click here to watch a short documentary on the work we do.

Keep up to date

You can also keep up to date on what you are part in by subscribing to emails, following my blog, liking my page on Facebook or by following me on Twitter. I am also developing a website too, and will let you know when that is ready.

What are you supporting towards?

The money raised here will go towards my flight there and  resources on the ship. the work on the ship will end on the 28th June, after which I will make my way to Townsville to continue studying at YWAM.

Thank you!

Thank you for reading this post and for your interest in the work that YWAM Townsville does in PNG. I hope you will consider being part of the work that is going on there by supporting me.

Be part of it!
