My name is Talita Brits and I am one of twelve girls from Fochville Secondary School that qualified for the annual Miss Fochie competition. Our goal is to make people aware of the need in our community and what we as youth can do to help in this regard. We have many homeless people on our streets. Young homeless boys freezing in the winter cold with no place to go. Older people (women and men) that have lost their jobs and that can not manage to get a decent meal a day. There are places that can help these people but with no government funding they struggle to make ends meet. We hope to raise funds to help these private organisations to, in turn help the street people to get a safe warm place to sleep, at least one meal a day and, where possible clothes, a blanket and toiletries.
