Campaign Story
Miss Farrow is running the 2015 New York Marathon and hoping to raise some sponsorship for Livvy!
This is 'Livvy'; a little girl I know well as I taught her last year.
Livvy has a rare genetic condition 'Xeroderma Pigmentosum' (XP) which means she is intolerant to ultraviolet rays and has a very high risk of skin cancer if she comes into contact with them.
Livvy has had a number of surgeries to remove skin cancer in the past. Despite the challenges she faces she always has a beautiful smile on her face. But there are times when this affects her and I am trying my best to help support her even more by running the marathon and trying to gain some sponsorship.
Livvy has to wear a 'beekeeper' mask which shields her from harmful rays and she has to cover up her skin. It is not only sunlight that can cause problems. She is also at risk indoors as light can also emit UV rays. Suncream is applied to Livvy every two hours.
I would like to support to try and raise money so we can protect Livvy more in school by making different changes to our school and so that she can have a special 'night garden' built.
Thank you for supporting!
Miss Farrow and Livvy! :-)
