MISKA STEPS INTO THE FUTURE.

Miska arrived at Paralimni Dog Pound in Cyprus in December. We were shocked to see the state of this girl and initial thoughts were she was a much older dog due to the state of her coat which was very badly matted and dirty. Miska also had part of her lower back leg missing and was struggling to walk. During investigations at a specialist vet it came to light that this partial amputation was not done surgically and could even have been a result of a shotgun incident, a little piece of her bone is still protruding. I have to admit to being in total shock when shown the x.ray and the result of the CT Scan, she is full of gun shot pellets and must have been in so much pain when she lost her lower leg, I just sat and cried with her.

So, fast forward a couple of months and miska is in a foster home and has learnt how to be a family dog and really deserves the chance to have her life improved upon even more.

We have been given a fantastic opportunity of giving Miska the chance of having a prosthetic limb attached. This is by far the best option for her as due to her injury her other leg is causing some hip problems, taking this option will take that pressure off her full leg, amputation of the damaged leg is not an option. We are looking at raising €500 towards the costs of her surgeries, the artificial limb will be discounted for her being a rescue dog for which we are very grateful. This is going to be ground breaking surgery here in Cyprus and were all very excited by the prospect.
