Millie’s Sri Lanka Volunteering Fundraising!!

As you may know, I am visiting Sri Lanka this August for a month to volunteer, in two extremely worthwhile projects. On this trip I will help protect and rehabilitate at-risk sea turtles whilst also volunteering at community development projects. I will be rehabilitating disabled turtles who have been caught in nets and protecting turtle eggs that have been stolen by poachers, to name but a few tasks.

I will also be teaching Sri Lankan children English and educating them on the importance of protecting the turtles. I am going for 4 weeks, so will return to England mid September.

The Programme is run by PMGY, which is a non profit organisation and registered charity (number 1169415). It charges £850 per person to attend the volunteer programme which covers accomodation and meals. My other costs are £700 for flights, £150 for jabs, £25 for a CRB check, £35 Visa, and £40 for insurance. This comes to a total of £1800, before I have even arrived in Sri Lanka.

Please please please donate anything you can to my fundraising, as every single pound helps my journey to Sri Lanka and help the poor turtles reach safety and hatch their eggs, and disadvantaged children to learn both English and the importance of looking after these beautiful creatures. I have just had my 21st birthday and friends and family have been so generous with my birthday money. I have been working overtime in Office and Fit4Less, babysitting, cleaning and selling my old clothes I am ever getting closer to reaching my goal, but I still have £1300 to raise.
