We are a military family, in North Eastern North Carolina. We have a passion for horses, and any animal who may need a gentle and loving touch to trust again. We do as much as we can with local Non Profit rescues, and we love to support local 4-H groups. In our area, we have noticed that first rescue's not only have a hard time adopting out, but they have limited space and facilities to properly adopt out horses. Working together, we rescue abused, surrendered and slaughter bound horses. However we can only hold so many horses. Our county also has equine 4-H groups, who have no where to practice, hold shows, work with trainers or just get in the much needed time with their horses, in a safe environment. Also in turn, for others in our area there in as well no place for us to do these things either. We have trainers, who would love to donate time to these rescue horses, to the kids, and community, but do not have a location to do so. We can not hold rodeo's or other events for the community to come together, because there is no location to do so.

We would love to be able to offer these things to our community. We are currently saving to buy enough land, to not only have our own horse at home and safe, but to open up an adoption center barn. A central location for horses from local rescues, who have been through their 30 day quarantine period, and need a safe location to stay while they await the perfect forever home. Think of this as animal shelter for horses. up to 20 adoptable horses all in one location. Where people know they can come, and see multiple horses from Rescues around our area, instead of having to drive from rescue to rescue. All horses will be healthy, vet checked, evaluated by local trainers, and worked and loved on daily by volunteers ( mainly 4-H kids who need the community service hours) So that we properly place horses in homes that are perfect for them. And we can take more time to evaluate homes, and rider/horse companionship. Enabling us to make sure the horse is less likely to come back due to a mismatch of horse and person.

We are also looking to give a permanent home to those horses, who just can not be adopted out. Maybe they have health issues or just trust issues. They need a place to live out their lives, with dignity and love. A retirement home that understands the way of the horse, and while provides all their needs is happy to just let them be horses.

We also will be including a horse park for our community. With round pens, arena's and a trail park, for people to ride in a safe environment. Charging a small fee per horse to the park ( just a couple dollars), which will be to fund the retirement center. Give not only vet care, food and much needed care for the retirement horses, but also a place for our community to come together, ride and be safe. To have community events. A place that can be used for kids to have classes, clinics, field trips, etc. Because you teach a child to love a horse, and they will have no money for drugs, and no time to get into trouble. These kids are our future. We need them to know that not only will we, but the animals will depend on them.

While we are currently saving ourselves to put this plan into action. And we will do this, with or without contributions. We wanted to give people a chance to invest in not just the saving of horse lives, but in the future of rural communities and children.

Horse Park can and will offer the following even't for the communities in and around pasqutank County

4-H clinics and show's ( no more of our kids being expected to go directly to state shows)

Adoption Event's open to all rescues/shelters and people who have a animal that needs a good home

Split the farm Call Days ( Teeth floating is important for a horses health, 2 times a yr. We will have a vet all day doing teeth floats, no farm call cost to you! We will pay that) We will also do 1 time a yr Vaccination days.

Having the facilities, will also provide emergency hurricane or fire evacuation to affected families, giving them a place to bring horses, and have them safe and cared for until such time as they can return home, and yes we will also make room available for other pets/livestock during emergency situations

Community Faire Day's, promoting buying local and small business, by allowing local artists, crafters, farmers, ranchers and etc to come together 1 day a month, from spring till fall to sell, trade or even barter supplies, and so community can by from our locals first

Clinics.. We are working with local trainers in our community to provide clinic days or weekends. Natural horsemanship is huge n the horse community, but is something not currently offered here, as we do not have a central location to have it

Therapy We would love to be able to offer therapy riding days, with local trainers and therapist, to help special needs kids and of course veterans, who may benefit from equine assisted therapy, and again would need a safe location to offer this.

The list does not end here. The opportunities are endless, and so much can be done for the community and these animals. If you would like to help us with this, we would be greatly appreciative.
