Campaign Story
Our 2 year-old baby Mike Gabriel was born with anorectal malformation (Imperforate anus with rectovesical fistula) and horseshoe kidneys, and had done three surgeries already. He already had transverse loop colostomy done a day after his birth due to imperforate anus with rectovesical fistula. He had his first surgery right after birth and stayed at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) almost a month and has been admitted in and out of the hospital. He had undergone his Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty(PSARP) called a pull-through surgery scheduled last August 30, 2018. He’s been in and out at the hospital ever since due to several infection especially on his failed new butt and hospital acquired pneumonia. It's been a really traumatic experience because we almost lost him to several complications. The new butt had already prolapsed from the time I got him from the OR and may need to be operated again for correction. Because of this, his new butt is always irritated and many times been infected and cost him to be admitted many times and I always need to put a pantyliner, cotton and a plaster on it. As per his new surgeon, our baby may need to undergo another PSARP operation to make a new butt again. For his third operation, he needs to be circumcized at an early age because of phimosis.
I already stopped working to take care of my child since no one is capable of caring for his daily colostomy needs and my husband is driving his tricycle but he hardly earns enough even for our daily needs and on Mike's supplies.
I do hope and pray you could help us for our son’s next operation. Some of the medicines and supplies at our public hospital are not available so we need to purchase outside the city or overseas. Also, our national health insurance does not cover all the costs, colostomy supplies and meds at the hospital.
I have tried everything possible to raise funds for him but it was not enough. He has been in and out of the hospital due to frequent infection due to his prolapsed butt. He was admitted recently again and was advised by the doctor that my little Mike be operated as soon as possible or he will get infection again and again and the dangerous part is that he might become resistant to all antibiotics if not operated soon. I pray you will open your hearts to help us for his next surgery. There are two more surgeries but we are almost there for his reversal. It is very painful for me to see him suffer every day. And while he is hurting, I just cry to the heavens and pray that God will give us angels who can help my baby Mike because this is the only thing I can do. I am always praying that he will live a normal life like any other kids, not getting bullied because of his disease.
Due to this pandemic our public hospital could not accept selective surgeries so the only option is to do his operation in a private hospital and the amount expected is more expensive.
Please I'm begging you to help him. I know I could not return all your help but the only thing I can do is to be grateful and pray to God that He will bless everyone who helps and prays for him a thousandfolds.
