Campaign Story
Miguel was born with a heart condition called Transposition of Great Arteries (TGA) wherein his aorta is connected to the right ventricle, and his pulmonary artery is connected to the left ventricle. It is the opposite of a normal heart's anatomy. Because of this, there is no oxygen flowing throughout his body.
He is now in ICU in National University Hospital (NUH) where he is recuperating from a distressing heart surgery. His surgery was initially planned on May this year however due to various reasons, it got postponed several times. It was then planned on early September.
However, he got very sick in July with pneumonia and fungal blood infection and was admitted in NUH since July 27. The doctors need to do an emergency open heart surgery on August 15 as he nearly had cardiac arrest that morning.
He had undergone 4 surgeries in his 10 years of life, 3 of which were open heart surgeries. These were when he was 2 months, 2 years and now that he is 10 years old. And will be needing another one in few years time. Each surgeries were emotionally, mentally, physically and financially exhausting. We nearly lose him and he needs to be put into the heart and lung bypass machine (life support) and blood dialysis. His current hospital bill is totalling to 142K SGD as of August 24. Less all the subsidies and medisave, our bill is at 47K SGD and running.
Due to being a congenital condition, unfortunately, there is no insurance that covers this.
Miguel is a very smart and lovely boy. He is a fighter.
We are knocking on your kind heart for assistance. All my family will be extremely grateful for any help. Thank you so much.
