FM4 Paso Libre is a group of interdisciplinary individuals that throughout the direct experience of the reality of transmigration in other zones of the republic decided to undertake a project of intervention in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara (ZMG).
Currently, FM4 Paso Libre is comprised of an extensive team of activists, academics, students, professionals, religious members, as well as families. Throughout our work we saw the necessity to publish a report that would work to share our experience to bring light to the topic in the region and sensitize the society so that they can be more supportive and generate better conditions for the migrants in transit.
We are convinced that the greater the information the greater the commitment, which is why we are interested in offering a documented and analytic outlook with a social conscience about migration in transit throughout Guadalajara’s Metropolitan Zone (ZMG). Our idea is to share the experience generated throughout six years of humanitarian work with migrants in transit and the results of the investigative works that we have put forth to make evident and propagate the situation that they live in during their travels throughout Mexico and our region.
Facing a humanitarian crisis that worsens at the expense of the migrants, we believe that it is important to search for alternatives that complement the humanitarian work. It is because of this that our project does not aim at staying only in academic work but an empowering tool that proposes concrete actions and public politics that creates a more dignified and just passage.
Our report seeks to generate reflection about the topic of migration in Guadalajara’s Metropolitan Zone (ZMG) and accomplish that the potential readers take a critical and supportive stance toward the migrant population.
