My husband and I are a young couple of 19 year olds living in an apartment building where recently one of the tenants moved out leaving Midnight(the name we chose for him) abandoned at our doorstep with nothing but a bagel and a cup of water in very bad condition with a severe leg injury in need of surgery. Midnight is a young rat terrier mix, approximately  2 years old. The injury was examined by veterinarians and diagnosed as a severe fracture that was left unattended for so long that it healed incorrectly and developed callouses. This meaning he needs surgery to correct this or will have to lose the leg. The fracture is in his front left leg and needs immediate attention before its too late. My husband and I being the young couple that we are do not have sufficient funds for his surgery to save the leg or to even amputate it. We have been able to find help to get the pain killers but that does not suffice for his condition. If unable to at least cover the amputation he will be left with the pain of a malformed leg, forcing the last resort to, which has been strongly suggested to end his suffering, is euthanization. We would love for him to keep his leg and are willing to care for him after the surgery until his leg has properly healed and found his proper home, but a healthy long loving life for Midnight is all we're looking for at least. The surgery is around $1000 (I have just been given an estimate) My husband and I can only put $200 USD into it, and the most help we could get from a rescue was $250 so we still have over $500 to go. This is a very low price for such surgery considering we decided to drive over an hour and a half away from home to take him to a hospital up north for lower prices in order to help him the best we could. A simple donation of $5 USD per a couple hundred people would be an answer to our prayers and will save this dog. The internet is vast in connecting people and we are sure we can get the help we need and hopefully in a small amount of time. We have three dogs of our own so we will not be able to adopt Midnight as one of our own but we promise to care for him and foster him as our own until we're able to place him in a loving home. He is definitely worth not giving up on and we will do anything we can to help him, but we need help in order to do so, so please open your hearts and help in anyway you can with whatever you can give. Midnight and I will be eternally grateful to all of those able to fund his second chance in life.
