Middle School Strings Club

Aidyn is a 10 year old girl who is heading to middle school next fall. She is passionate about classical music and would like to start an after-school music club that covers music theory, technique and performance. Right now, the school has two music teachers, but no music education with the exception of digital composition. While the eventual goal would be to have a chamber ensemble or full orchestra, this club is a great first step. Although the club would be student-lead, a faculty member is required to supervise. The school administration has advised that a minimum of seven students are needed to enroll and that a participation fee of $240 per trimester is needed to pay for the supervising faculty member's time. Since this is the inaugural year (Fall 2021), Aidyn would like to raise as much as possible to offset the participation costs for the students. $240 for 7 students is $1680 per trimester or $5040 for the school year. The club has already identified 7 interested students with varying level of experience. This is a great opportunity to get classical music education back into the classroom. Aidyn is a member of DC Youth Orchestra's Talent Development Program and plays violin in their Young Artists ensemble. She plans to attend DC International School this fall and would love your help in making her strings/music club a reality.
