Scottsdale’s Eisenhower is a new type of vacation rental that combines the love of local art and culture with the status of a modern boutique hotel. Our space is a design experience that allows you to immerse yourself with the local culture without the boring trappings of the normal vacation rental or hotel room.

Scottsdale’s Eisenhower is located within the apartment structure, “Americana." Built in 1958, the Americana is one of 14 Garden Style Apartment complexes located in the shadow of the Valley Ho Hotel. The once popular type of structure, usually 2 stories, looks out to a swimming pool or garden. Built for many uses it first met a demand for housing in Post-War Southern California. In fact, many post & beam "garden apartments" still remain in towns like West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach and other beach communities in Southern California. Garden Apartments gained in popularity because they were quick to build, and well suited to the climate of Southern California. They also catered to a growing percentage of young Americans whose appreciation for indoor/outdoor living began to take hold. (Video zoom in of the Americana sign) Built In 1958, The Americana came two years after the chic and famous Valley Ho Hotel opened its doors in Scottsdale, Arizona. The developers and owners, Robert and Evelyn Foehl, well known in the Hollywood celebrity scene of Southern California, attracted the Hollywood stars to Scottsdale and the luxurious desert lifestyle that awaited. Built in response to the growing popularity of the area, The Americana, and other Garden Apartments are considered the predecessors to the modern boutique hotels we currently enjoy in America.

We have taken the historic concept of the 50’s era boutique rental space and updated it with a floor to ceiling renovation that brings in the best of modern mid-century desert design. The space will feature the amenities and trappings of a modern boutique hotel that allows all our guests to feel immersed in the vibrant culture of Scottsdale that we love so much. We began remodeling efforts in April of 2019 and since then we have brought on Tony, an inspiring local designer, George, a high standards General Contractor, and Bill, a talented stencil artist to help make this project a reality. Additionally, I’ve already negotiated contracts with 3 other local artists and expect to work with many more.

This is where we need your help. To honor this historic mid-century modern gem and speed up the process with a goal of opening September 15th, I need $15,000. That money will cover the remaining costs of appliances and specialized labor, curated furniture, and inspiring local art. It will also help cover marketing costs as I prepare to share the Eisenhower with the world. Now, I’ve signed my team up with a very hefty goal, but with your help I can work with local tradespeople and artists to accelerate the pace of construction so you can get here sooner and enjoy this inspiring space. Your next desert adventure awaits, so please join us on this unforgettable journey and plan your weekend getaway today.
