2 months ago, Mickey was trapped at a factory premise for sterilization. Upon trapping him, we noticed a very bald patch of skin exposed at the base of his tail. To our horror, Mickey has a very sore and open wound.

It was not possible to just sterilize him and release him back to the factory. Mickey needed help to heal his wound. He was sent to the vet immediately to have his wound/injury assessed. There were few possibilities of what happened - that his wound grew from a small infection to a big open raw patch; that he may have been scalded by some chemicals which caused a chemical burn.

Mickey was cooperative at the vet, he probably knew he was getting help FINALLY! Poor Mickey must have been in great pain - from what we could recall, he walked right into the trap without smelling the food! He didnt eat much during the first 2 days when he was at the vet clinic, thereafter his appetite picked up. The medication helped to ease his discomfort and we saw him eating his meals in small portions.

Fast forward 4 weeks ... Mickey's skin was still raw and unsuitable to be stitched up. Also, he started to lick the base of his tail and that definitely did not help in his wound recovery. At the 7th week, the vet decided that he was ready to be stitched up. Upon stitching up, his skin tore on the 5th day. So he was set back again on his recovery. This is a tedious and delicate period as the vet team did their best to prevent any lesions. Mickey had to wear an e-collar throughout ... you can imagine how grumpy and unhappy he was.

At this moment, Mickey is still on his journey to a full recovery. As he is still feral, we had to keep him at the clinic rather than a home care option. Also, his wound is easily susceptible to infection, hence a sterile environment is much needed.

Mickey is healing, slowly but surely. He needs your help for his medical costs especially his hospitalization bill. He's slowly warming up to the vet techs, which is good news to his care givers!

A big "Thank You" to all who can lend Mickey a helping hand! *LOVE*
