Michele’s Classroom

Hi everybody,
This is a simple request to ask for a few extra bucks (only if you have it!) for a good cause, and one which many of our friends who are teachers will relate. Michele is starting teaching this year in a lower-income area of Denver known as Commerce City, where she will have the great opportunity to teach 4th grade. The school district is known as Adams 14, and is one of the lowest funded school districts in the state. Michele is excited, and I have no doubt that the kids will be wonderful and the experience a great one. However, it is going to largely fall on her shoulders financially to buy furniture, books, supplies (many of the kids will not have access to the most basic of school supplies), and anything extra that may come up during the school year such as extra functions or celebrations, excursions, etc.

While this is extremely unfortunate that our teachers have to face this burden, it may also be the case that there are those close to you going through something similar. So, what I ask is if you have a few extra dollars and would like to support education in a struggling area for a gifted teacher, your donations will go to good use. However, if this causes you *any* financial burden, or if you have others close to you that you'd rather support, then please do not even consider it (but do offer them your support!). This is just something we are trying to help out some kids and make sure they get what they deserve education wise.

As a side note, she did not ask for this, but it seemed like a good idea to me :). Again, only if you have a few extra bucks lying around, and I will make sure that 100% goes towards investments into Michele's classrooms. Thanks in advance for even reading this, if this works I encourage all of the teachers out there who are unfairly burdened financially to provide a proper education to the kiddos to consider something similar!
