Michael Scheetz had an accident while on vacation in Hawaii. She shattered the T12 vertebrae of her spine.

Anna and her friend Christine went on a hike to Maunawili Falls in Oahu, Hawaii. After the hike they decided to jump off one of the higher cliffs. Anna apparently did not hit the water straight enough and she broke her back.

Her prognosis at this time is to regain 75% of her ability to walk and do daily activities. It is only 5 days since the accident, but at this time they anticipate that she will be able to walk with braces on her feet, but not for any length of time or distance. She will need the use of a wheelchair most of the time. She will also need the use of a specially equipped car in order to drive herself.

Anna has always been a strong, mature woman for her age. She has been through a lot in her young life and has proved to be someone who can be resilient. She gets her strength from her belief in God and in His grace and love. He spoke to her heart as she waited for the rescue team the day she was injured. He reminded her of all he has done for her in the past and said, "I got this. Trust me." She has taken him at his word and she has amazed all of us at her attitude and pleasant countenance in the midst of this ordeal.

As Anna's friends began to hear about her situation, they wanted to pool their resources and purchase an iPad for her so that she can easily access apps to occupy her time. We are sure that she will make good use of it.

Anna is also extremely artistic and has always had a desire to draw and paint. She may choose to use some of the funds to create art that she can sell to help earn extra income.

Anna will obviously have many unexpected expenses. Fortunately she has a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University, and currently she has a job as Guest Services Team Lead at Target. Her rehab will last a month to six weeks, and then she will have outpatient rehab also. We are not sure at this time how her injury will affect her ability to do her job. She will need resources and equipment to live independently. If this site generates more than we have set as a goal, the funds will certainly be put to good use. Information will be given as time goes on and we know more.

Thank you for visiting our site. If you know Anna, you love her. If you haven't had the privilege of meeting her, you are missing out. Hopefully you will get a sense of the kind of young woman she is by the stories and comments shared here.
