Mexico Voluntary Project

"When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed." My name is Savannah Koria and I am 17 years old. I have spent the last couple of years at Coventry City College studying Children and Young People's Workforce: Extended Diploma Level 3. During this time I have gained a variety of experiences from having placements at nurseries to a special school.     Before I venture off to university, I hope to embark on a voluntary project. I have registered and am now glad to say I am part of an organisation called Original Volunteers. Original volunteers allows individuals from the age of 18+ to travel to different locations around the world from Africa to India to America. I planned to volunteer in Morocco at a baby orphanage while also interacting and communicating with street children, but due to the current economic circumstances, I have decided to change my destination to ensure my own personal safety. My new destination is Merida, Mexico. I will be flying into Cancun then taking a 2 and a half hour coach to Merida. While in Merida I will be volunteering within a poor school to gain an insight into education in different countries and to understand the way in which they teach and learn more about their particular curriculum. During this voluntary project I will also have the opportunity to work in a community soup kitchen, work in a cancer clinic and work in a special needs orphanage for young boys.

The cost of travel and living out there estimates to around £1,300. I have already covered the cost of my airfare and am looking for donations to help towards my accommodation and living costs.
