Merry Christmas Melinda

Melinda was born in Los Angeles in August 2011, weighing only 260g and the hospital staff declared that she had a less than 1% chance of surviving and if she did survive she would be severely handicapped. What the doctors didn't know was that Melinda is a little fighter and five months later she won her battle when she was well enough to leave the hospital. Melinda was excellently looked after by Prof Ramanathan and his team and she is one of the world's smallest surviving babies.

Melinda is now a cute little six year old girl and she goes regularly to visit Prof Ram for a check-up, she is healthy and is growing well.

However her battles have not finished as she is now facing one of the hardest battles a little girl can encounter, the loss of her brave young mother after a long illness.

Melinda has a wonderful father that cares dearly for her, however he works long hours in a MacDonalds restaurant and struggles to raise Melinda by himself...

but Christmas will be difficult and sad without Melinda's mum.

Now wouldn't it be lovely if Santa Claus could bring Melinda some toys, maybe a pretty dress and tickets to see a Disney film at the movies? then maybe Christmas would be less sad for Melinda and she could enjoy Christmas just like our children do. Maybe altogether we can perform this magic!
