These professors have traveled to Vietnam with their students to set up clinics every June and December since 2009. There are an estimated 100,000 untreated amputees still living in Vietnam, with an additional 2,000 men, women and children losing limbs each year due to the 2.2 million unexploded ordnance and landmines left over from the Vietnam War. Over the past nine years Mercer on Mission-Vietnam program has fit more than 7,000 amputees, and treated more than 40,000 orthopedic patients.
