Mercédesz’s vocal course fee

Hello my name is Mercédesz Kárla Domschy and I was recently accepted to London College of Creative Media where I will be studying music performance as a vocalist this upcoming year.

As a young woman from an average Transylvanian family, I feel most honored by the decision of the college’s committee regarding my acceptance. My only setback is the financial part. The fee for the whole year is 5250£, an amount that I have to pay before the 15^th of August. To make sure I do not lose my place, I would be grateful to have the amount by the 10^th of August.

My parents are only able to help me out with a small part of the fee. I am working two jobs this summer and will have a job during the school year as well, but this money will mostly go towards covering the expenses of everyday life, which include housing, food, and transportation. It would be nice if I could eventually stop this job during the school year to focus on my studies.

So, my mom’s family all love to make music and sing and play instruments – I get my talent from them. I’m from Timisoara, and in this city the music school only teaches in the Romanian language. My family is Hungarian and my parents wanted me to learn in my mother tongue, so they sent me to the normal school instead. It was a part of my childhood to sing and dance around all the time, but we didn’t learn formally. I felt sad for myself during this time, and I battled with God about why He gave me such a passion for music when I had no talent! It was really important for me to find my path, because all the other kids around me seemed to be good at something, and I was bad at music, which was the thing I loved most.

I participated in a play in high school where I got a part that I had to sing in. Everyone around me was like “wow, you can sing?!” and I was surprised right along with them. I was talking to a musician friend of mine shortly after this play and he interrupted our conversation to tell me that I needed to sing because I was so good at it. It was a talent I needed to pursue, even if I never make a living off it I started crying when he told me this because I felt music was the only thing I wanted to do, and to hear someone say I could actually do it? It was a dream come true, even if that sounds cheesy. This was something I had wanted my entire life, but I never believed it was possible, and here was someone with real music knowledge telling me I had a chance. I’m really sensitive and music is one of the best ways I have to express myself – when I sing I feel like I’m doing what I was made to do. After this, I knew I wanted to study singing seriously.

After four years of studying music pedagogy, I’ve been accepted to study vocals in music performance at the London College of Creative Media. With your help, I hope to begin my studies there this fall.
