MENTAL HEALTH FOR RURAL GUATEMALA

ALAS PRO SALUD MENTAL is a non-profit organization with 5 year working on Guatemalan rural areas (Lake Atitlán region).

ALAS´ main goal is to facilitate access to mental health services to severely ill persons living in poverty; we provide especialized psychiatric attention, work on reduce stigma, train health providers on mental health and empower patients and their families.
Through the last 5 years we have been able to reach the communities and improve quality of life of those with a mental disability.
Since ALAS does not recive money from the state and depends solely on donations and grants, the donations will support ALAS work for another year (psychiatrists, psychologists, facilitators, medicines, activities and operation).
The funds are going to enter ALAS financial department. ALAS has a legal status as a NGO in Guatemala and presents yearly financial statements to its board, donnors and general public.
We are working with little funds to date, if we fail to raise money to keep working for another year, we will have to stop providing this service that NO ONE IN GUATEMALA IS PROVIDING TO THIS POPULATION.
