Mending A Heart

I’ve had the golden opportunity to meet brave little boy Zian de la Harpe a few months ago.Little did I know about the battle that he was starting to fight,but from the moment I’ve layed eyes upon him something inside of me stirred.While I was holding him his heartbeat was rapidly fast,but I’ve thought it was due to nervousness as I’m a complete stranger,yet he sat in awe of this stranger baby talking and rocking him on her leg.A few hours later we had to start praying for Zian as he suddenly fell ill and was taken to hospital by his parents.The most heartbreaking part of it all was when this little girl(his older sister I’ve later gathered) said that she doesn’t think her little brother is going to return as he is very sick.After tests were ran they’ve discovered that Zian has a virus carried by corpses(HOW INSANE IS THIS)and got picked up by him when he went for his immunizations.And then I ask myself,how does something like this even happen? On the 30th of November 2019 that boy nestled his home in my heart even deeper.By now,I knew how sick he was exactly and I struggled to understand just how insane it is for that little body to fight something so big.After numerous of tests doctors at Steve Biko hospital in Pretoria discovered that Zian has a hole in his aorta valve of 7mm,which is resulting in the valve not properly closing up.Besides that,he also has a hole of 5mm between his heart chambers that needs to be repaired as soon as possible.Because of the great need at local hospitals in South Africa,Zian was initially scheduled to go for surgery on the 16th of March,only a few days after his 1st birthday.When visited the doctor more recently,the doctor forced the hospital to make space for Zian earlier as he needs the surgery as soon as possible.The only plan the doctor could make was to open up space for Zian in January 2020,only 2 months earlier than the original scheduled date. We are currently hard at work to organize a fundraising event(s)for baby Zian.His parents are not equipped with a medical aid and already made peace with Zian to go for his surgery at Steve Biko.Tge surgery(excluded some theatre staff payments)and after care comes to down to an amount of R56 000 if it gets done at a private hospital.This doesn’t yet even cover the transport costs of his parents that have to travel from Hartbeespoort to Pretoria whenever Zian needs to get to Steve Biko for tests,doctors appointments and whenever he needs help.Most recently Zian was admitted to Steve Biko with a bladder infection as he is very fragile to infections on the moment.He got admitted on the evening of the 30th November and only was discharged in the week of the 7th December. My biggest inspiration behind this fundraiser is the little boy with the big heart fighting endlessly.I’m in awe of his fighting spirit and the strength of his family.Every child deserves the best care possibly to ensure that they’ll be able to live a happy and full live and be able to play outside and run around with their friends. Funds raised for Zian will be used for POSSIBLE private hospital(if possible),for his aftercare and for his parents transports costs while he is admitted to hospital.I’ve already applied to get Back-A-Buddy administered. Why am I contacting you? As much as I would like to get every single person on board,I know that is just not possible as transport costs among others are not cheap and there is an amount to be paid to get certain people to perform and do what we want them to.Word of mouth is just as important as donating/being part of the event(s)itself.Mentioning this cause on social media pages will be a massive contribution as well as suggestion feedback of how or where to go from here on.I’m totally clueless about this all,but I’m willing to do what I have to to learn about the process and to do it all as long as it is for Zian.I know in my heart that God has great plans for Zian’s life,if only to inspire others out there to face their challenges the same way he does no matter how big or how small.
