UPDATE: Mend the Heart of Warrior Khalil

UPDATE!!!

After few months of raising funds and looking for possible sponsors for my baby brother's open heart surgery, last JUNE 2019, Khalil is blessed to be one of the chosen beneficiary of HEARTS OF JOY INTERNATIONAL. A non-profit organization that helps down syndrome children with Congenital Heart Disease on their medical needs. All with the help of JADEN AND FRIENDS, Ma'am Janice Lopez (founder of JAF) and Dr. Luisa Go who endorsed us to them. Last month, Khalil undergone Cardiac catheterization and hemodynamic test to ensure he's still operable.

The operation will be done in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in India that will take place on July 26, 2019. The cost of the surgery is expensive therefore the organization needs our help to comply all the needed documents and airline tickets on our expense. Also, we have 800 USD share that we needed to provide.

We have raised 35,000 PHP on our shirt selling last December but the fund was used on Khalil's other medical needs and was used to pay for the hospital bill for his Cardiac Cath.

Our dearest Khalil has Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD), a Congenital Heart Disease/Condition which was diagnosed weeks after he was born after we were advised to have him screened and undergo Echocardiogram due to the murmurs heard in his chest by the Physician on his birth.

AVSD is a heart defect in which there are holes between the chambers of the right and left sides of the heart, and the valves that control the flow of blood between these chambers may not be formed correctly. This condition is also called atrioventricular canal (AV canal) defect or endocardial cushion defect. In AVSD, blood flows where it normally should not go. The blood may also have a lower than normal amount of oxygen, and extra blood can flow to the lungs. This extra blood being pumped into the lungs forces the heart and lungs to work hard and may lead to congestive heart failure.

Khalil also has Down Syndrome. AVSD is particularly common to babies who have Down Syndrome just like him.

AVSD requires surgery. The sooner the better. By the time we have known about our baby's condition, my parents immediately seek ways for him to have undergo surgery. They seek assistance to the Charity Out-Patient Department of Philippine Heart Center and complied all the needed documents to be qualified with the Social Welfare Assistant. 2 years after, we are still in the line up and waiting for a schedule given the fact that there are lots of patients waiting for their schedules as well.

Last November, he was confined for 5 days due to Bacterial Pneumonia and on his X-ray, it was found out that his lungs is already having a hard time when he gets sick.

Khalil is growing so fast, waiting in line means more complications to come. We are now seeking help from other people to raise fund for his surgery. We are in need of more than Php 491,000 to have him scheduled as soon as possible. We are knocking on everyone's heart to help our little boy mend his brave heart. Help us make his heart shine even brighter.
