September 24, 2015 marks the second anniversary of losing Jonathan. I have found over time that doing something active or creative to honour Jonathan really helps and makes these important days a bit more positive. For this reason I thought, and I think Jonathan would agree, what a great idea it would be for all of his friends to come together to honour Jonathan. Ever since I met Jonathan, he's always said he considers his friends his family. You were all important to him (and now me) and I know you share my loss.

I also thought Jonathan would probably like something not too serious and matches his sense of humour. So I came up with the idea of engraving a yoda quote - Jonathan had this on a plaque on his desk that said:

Do or do not, there is no try.

Bannerman Park has an area for memory stones in which you can have stones engraved to honour loved ones. You order the stones and an engraver completes the project - shares the layout for approval - and then they are laid on the memory stone walk. Each stone holds a maximum of 45 characters (incl spaces). I think four stones placed together would be nice. And would read:

Do or do not, there is no try.

In memory of Jonathan “Jono” White

Jan 10 1966 - Sept 24 2013

Love your partner friends colleagues & family

The cost of the stones is 275/ea - so four would be 1,100.

This would be a collaborative gift in memory of Jonathan - anything anyone could offer would be great - it's not about the $ it is about the collaborative effort by those who loved and miss Jonathan.

I though today's date would be appropriate for announcing and asking people to participate. I set the end of the fundraising for January 10, Jonathan's 50th birthday, which I thought would be a nice day to order the stones in his memory. And then the stones could be placed in the spring for everyone to visit.

Again, not about the money , any little contribution would mean a lot - and hope you share my feelings this is something positive to do on some difficult dates.

I tried to think = of most people that Jonathan talked about all the time or who I have met. But feel free to pass along to any friends you know would be interested in contributing and being a part of this way to remember Jonathan of whom I might not be aware

Love and peace,

Paul

PS: It pains me to have to say this - but this is a positive project - negative comments or passive aggressive behaviour of any sort - and this page/online project will be shut down immediately.
