Please help us raise the money needed to cover Paki's memorial costs. My family is struggling and we appreciate any and all donations. Thank you for helping to make Paki's last wish possible...
Pascasio Diaz (Paki) was an amazing human being. He was a Cuban political prisoner for much of his youth. He was a leader among the prisoners and went on several hunger strikes. His longest hunger strike was 45 days, which caused him to lose the ability to walk for 12 years. He lived and suffered through mistreatment and abuse in filthy cells. He never backed down and continued to fight for freedom in Cuba. He was ready to die for his country and never expected to see the outside of those prison walls again. Thankfully, after serving 18 years, he was freed to the United States but forbidden to return to Cuba. He regained his ability to walk after 2 years of physical therapy.
He started a new life in Boston, where he met my family. He learned English, got his GED, and became a nursing assistant. He was a part of my family for over 30 years. He brought us positivity, advice, knowledge and a shoulder to lean on when we all needed it most. His smile, confidence, and positivity hid the atrocities of his past. He was unforgettable to everyone he met, even if they only knew him for a short time. He brought my family together like no one else could. He was like a father to my siblings and I and holds a very special place in all of our hearts.
We love you forever and always Paki! <3 <3 <3
