Melitta’s Surgery Fundraiser

My dear friends and family,

This is an emergency medical fund-raising campaign to raise the funds to cover my radical hysterectomy procedure and hospital recovery stay of 3 to 5 days. Several teams of close friends and colleagues will be helping me manage and share the campaign.

After preliminary surgery and testing, which began in March 2021, I have been diagnosed with Stage 2 endometrial cancer (cancer of the uterus). Stage 2 means the cancer has progressed to the cervix, but has not moved into any other organs. The surgery will involve removing my uterus, ovaries and cervix and also all my pelvic lymph nodes, as some of these are enlarged. The lymph nodes will be biopsied to determine if the cancer has moved into the lymph system.

The surgery is called a laparotomy and lasts 4 to 5 hours.

This type of cancer is treatable and curable, but only if I have the surgery as soon as possible. 5500 Euros will cover the surgery and hospital stay.

My surgery is scheduled for Friday, June 18, 2021 and will take place in Budapest at the Maternity Clinic, a private women's clinic devoted to gynaecological matters.
