My Cousin Melanie Davie, and most certainly my close friend has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and her treatment will involve chemotherapy. She has decided to go ahead and have her naturally long hair shaved from her head in a weeks time. She is beautiful, strong and so positive facing the ordeal that suddenly was thrown at her.
One of the 'perks' that she wants to enjoy during her treatment is to have the ability to change her hair style and color at will. With that said, she will benefit from your help by donating to my campaign to raise enough funding to enable her to do just that, and be able to face her journey to healing in beauty and with pride.
My campaign will include a payback for all that donates, in return for your support, I have volunteered myself to amp up the ice bucket challenge, and will accept pledges in the form of donations to do a polar plunge swim in the Skaha Lake in Penticton B.C. before the lake temperature starts to rise. The event will be video recorded then broadcast following the event on a secure web link to where those who donated will have exclusive access to the video event.
If we reach my goal to raise $2000.00 before 12:01 AM March 17th 2015, then I will do the polar plunge swim in my birthday suit. (and hopefully I don't get arrested!). The broadcasted results will be edited for family viewing (just so no one is offended).
The "Plunge" will take place at the Skaha Lake in Penticton BC on the week of April 5th 2015.
This is a cause that I believe is attainable. All of the funds raised will go towards the purchase of enough high quality wigs so Melanie can wear a new style every day of the week, as well to help with transportation and parking fees during all of the hospital visits required during her treatment. I am doing this for love and to support her through her journey to health and fight against cancer.

We have been following this news with sadness and with hope at the same time. Our prayers are with you Melanie and certainly with all your family. Even if Eric doesn't make it across the water in his birthday suit, it will is worth the watch! I hope all the turtles will be in hibernation. haha Love from Leigh and Heather.
