Melrowie Palafox Daquioag or Mel has just had his brain surgery yesterday, November 27, 2019, at exactly 7:00 PM (Philippine Time) at the Cauayan Medical Specialist Hospital (address: No. 27 Burgos St., District II Cauayan City 3305 Isabela, Philippines). He is still confined although he needs to be at the ICU, the family requested the hospital to transfer him into a regular room as the bill piled up. Good thing that Mel is conscious.

Last November 16, 2019, Mel just turned 22 years old. The day after that his family had rushed him into the hospital due to a stroke that causes a blood clot in his brain. The doctor found out also that water formed in his brain that leads to hydrocephalus The only option for him to survive is to have immediate surgery and he needs USD6,000 ( or approximately Php300,000) just for his operation alone.

He was confined at the provincial hospital, the Cagayan Valley Regional Hospital in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan for more than 1 week. But since this is a public hospital, the facilities are limited and a provincial neurologist happened to visit the hospital in scheduled time only. They recommend to transfer him into the Veterans Medical Hospital another public hospital at the neighbor province, Nueva Vizcaya. When they reach the hospital last November 26, 2019, the resident doctor checked the condition of the patient and from the assessment of the laboratory tests, told directly to Mel's dad that they better transfer Mel to Baguio City (which is 6 to 7 hours drive/via bus away from Cauayan City, Isabela) due to the unavailability of doctor (neurologist) and the same facilities issue.

However, Mel is already in great pain and already almost 2 weeks in his condition, they only give him a pain reliever every 8 hours to ease the pain in his head. On the same day of the 26th of November, from Nueva Vizcaya's Veteran's Hospital, Mel's parents transferred him directly to Cauayan Medical Specialist Hospital (a private hospital in Cauayan) instead of transferring him to Baguio City as there was no guarantee if he'll be attended or if the provincial hospital has complete facilities. Although. Mel's parents are really hesitant due to the cost. But Mel's life is more precious.

They reached the Cauayan Medical Specialist Hospital at dusk and Dr. Malillin the available neurologies and became the doctor of Mel, admitted him directly to ICU. Dr. Malillin immediately schedules the operation the following day, November 27, 2019, at 7:00 PM as his life is already in danger.

The brain surgery operation was a success. Mel is still confined at the hospital.
