Meghan’s Mission Trip to Honduras 2017

Hello!

This August, I will be traveling on a medical mission to Honduras with my uncle Dr. Edward Chambers. My uncle has gone to Honduras for the past 6 years and I'm so blessed to have the opportunity to join his team. I will be part of the Los Robles Honduras 2017 team and we will be traveling to Pena Blanca, Honduras where we will be volunteering with Friends of Barnabas.

Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the world. More than half of the people live in poverty and many live in extreme poverty with no running water or electricity. We will travel to remote villages in the mountains of rural Honduras to provide health care to impoverished children and their families who otherwise would not have access to the care they need. Our team will provide general medical, vision and dental care, distribute prenatal and child vitamins and screen for more serious conditions such as heart defects in children. Children with more serious conditions are referred into the organization's extended care program which performs life-saving surgeries each year.

In addition to providing these vital health care services, Friends of Barnabas programs help teach the importance of health preventative care and early childhood development as well as offering education and support to local healthcare providers.
