So, my fiance Meghan and I have been together about 4 years now. When we got engaged, we thought we would have plenty of time to save up and it would all work out for us. Buuuuuuuut, as the special day gets closer and closer, we are realizing that we are falling quite short of what we need.
I am a waiter at a PF Changs in virginia ( i had to drop out of school when i was young to take care of my mom, so i didnt graduate. BUT i did just finish getting my GED today... literally...3-13-14!), and Meghan works at a bank out here as well. So obviously, she brings home most of the bacon. But the bank she works for is being closed down. At first we heard it was over at the end of December, then the end of January, and so on. The final day that the doors are open are at the end of April. We own the house we live in, and the car we have as well, so most of our money just goes right towards bills and food, and rarely do we get a chance to put money away.
We are trying to have a small event, because we knew we wouldnt be able to afford much, but we went to a food tasting the other day and found out that the food is going to add WAAAAY more than we thought to the ending price.
Now, just about the only things we have taken care of are the little things... we have picked and booked the venue, we have our wedding bands, we know who the wedding party will consist of, what gifts to get them, and what they will be wearing. I am talking to a girl i work with about doing the cake so it will be cheaper, and we are looking to do as much as we can ourselves to save money.
But that being said... we still have to get the suits, and the bridesmaids dresses, the gifts, the flowers, food, cake, music, and sooo much more.
So heres the thing. Even this full amount isnt going to cover what we honestly need. I have my step dad trying to send me money soon (even though he is on SSI for falling out of a building years ago.), and meghans' parents put the deposit on the venue, but everything else is on us, so every little bit will help me to give my fiance the wedding she deserves.
Thanks for taking the time to read my boring story!
