Campaign Story
“Hi, we’re a group of friends who regularly feed stray animals in our area in Metro Manila, Philippines. We chanced upon a small, black dog in the middle of the street who was unable to get up even when we tried to feed her. We decided to bring her to the vet since we were afraid to leave the innocent dog laying on the ground exposed to the harsh weather conditions we’ve been having lately in the Philippines. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with distemper, anemia and a COMPLETE FRACTURE was seen on her left hind leg. It has been 5 days since we rescued the dog, which we eventually named “Mega”, and our bills in the animal clinic have accumulated since they have been trying to stabilize her condition before undergoing surgery. The veterinarians are trying to resolve her anemia (RBC count decline) and they are trying to rehabilitate the lower half of her body which is seemingly paralyzed due to the neurologic effects of distemper. They have given her an advanced treatment for this viral infection since it has already advanced and affected her neuromuscular system. Amidst all these struggles as a stray dog, she continuously fights for her life as she desperately tries to open her mouth for her to be able to eat. Her eyes tell us how much she appreciates our help and that she wants to recover from all of this. But we badly need financial assistance as this has already depleted our resources while the bills continue to pile up—and she hasn’t even been able to undergo surgery just yet. We have tried to approach organizations and the local government units but sadly, our country does not prioritize animal welfare as well as more advanced countries who show great respect and importance to animals. We are hopeful that you would help us continue this fight with our rescue dog, Mega, until she recovers fully from distemper and her future femoral surgery, so that she can have a chance to live the good life that she deserves. If you would like to know more about our rescue dog, please don’t hesitate to email us. We would be glad to keep you updated with her status. “

Update posted by Julie Ann Pamplona at 01:42 am“UPDATE: we are still unable to settle bills from Mega’s hospitalization when she was initially treated for Distemper and Erlichia. So far we have raised $505.00 (including the donations from our friends and relatives) which is still so far from our target of $2,500.00. We are continuously shelling out from
