Hi I'm Jacob Saldana. I am currently in my first professional year as a pharmacy student at the Ferris State College of Pharmacy. I started my college career at a community college in order to save money, because I was aware of the financial burden of graduate school. I started this school year debt-free, though that didn't last long. I am already building a steady mountain of school loans. I have no assistance with money, because my family cannot afford to help, so I am doing the best on my own.

During my first semester here, I met a Japanese girl named Chisa. We became fast friends, and were soon inseparable. Though I didn't notice it at first, I began to realize I was falling in love with her. So after getting to know her better over the weeks and months, I knew for certain she was a perfect match for me. So soon after, we began dating.

I was scared at the prospect of a long distance relationship, and many people told me that it was not a good idea. But I could not let a girl like her leave, without giving this a chance. I am a person who doesn't want to live with regret. Therefore, I like to take chances. I want to live knowing that I did my best to get the most out of life. She left back to Japan in December, and seeing her go was one of the hardest moments in my life, but I knew that wasn't the end. After being almost 4 months apart, we are still going strong, and I have never been happier.

I want to visit her as soon as possible, but with my hectic schedule I do not have the time or the money to be able to visit her in the summer. Therefore I decided I would visit her during my next winter break, but money issues are really getting in the way. Currently I am using 2 governmental loans to pay for my board and tuition, but that is not enough. I also pay around 1,400 per semester from my own pocket. Currently I borrowed 1,500 from a friend to pay for this semester, which I must pay back. Plus I need to pay for a summer internship which is another 1,200. Not to mention the inevitable money I will need to pay for the next semesters. Thus, I am starting to believe that being able to make enough money in the summer to pay for the ticket and money for expenses while in Japan may be out of reach. Thus, I have turned to you.

The amount I asked for will be enough to pay for the round trip ticket. I think with this help I will be able to make enough money to cover the other expenses. To be able to be with her during Christmas, and New Year’s, would mean so much to me. She is an amazing part of my life. Thank you for your time.
