Any donation you feel moved to provide will be going towards healthcare provided to the underserved population of Arusha, Tanzania. The most common, and life-threatening, illnesses people face in this region are complications with pregnancies, neonatal disorders, and preventable illnesses such as malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea. These common issues result in approximately 270 child deaths every day (birth to 5 years old). There are socio-economic disparities in child mortality, largely due to inequities with access to, and use of, health services. The overall life expectancy in Tanzania (62 years) is roughly 9 years younger than the worldwide life expectancy (71 years), and 17 years less than America (79 years).
I will be traveling through International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ), who are partners with gogetfunding. If you are passionate about volunteering and giving back, I highly suggest you check this service out! I cannot wait to devote a week of my time and skills to aid an underserved community in Africa. Upon entering and finishing PA school, I will be devoting my "career" to serving the medically underserved, both domestically and abroad. If you have any additional questions or would like to learn more about why I have been pushed to serve others in Africa (now and well into the future), feel free to reach out!
