Medical/Hospital Cost

Good day everyone. I am Joyce Ivy Espiritu with 3 kids, My husband whose name is Juan Carlos V. Torio was diagnosed with pancreatic cyst and mass (tumor) 3cm in size on the head of his pancreas which requires an immediate surgery.

Last year, march 2018 he had his 1st surgery cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder) and after that we found out that his diabetes in not controlled which also the reason of his sudden lose of weight, so he has to take medications and insulin for it, we also treated Tb (tubercolosis) for 6 mos which is one of the complication of his diabetes. June of the same year 2018 he was again admitted to the hospital because of a severe pain in his stomach and we found out that he has 2 cyst on the head of his pancreas that causes the pain and its called pancreatitis, he went through a procedure called endoscopy so the doctors can aspirate the fluids inside the cysts to treat the pancreatitis temporarily, we had the gallbladder and the fluid checked and thanks God its benign, from june 2018 to jan 2019 he' s taking meds for his diabetes , pancreas and high blood.

Last week of January 2019 he felt a severe stomach pain again, more painful this time, we went to the doctor to have him checked and a CT scan was again requested to check his pancreas and another cyst was found and to our surprise there is a mass beside the cyst already in span of 6 mos the mass is already 3cm in size that causing the pain and because of it the pancreas cant function properly and it shrinked already, so to avoid for the whole pancreas to get damage , to avoid the mass (tumor) to spread it needs an immediate surgery which they call WHIPPLES PROCEDURE. The procedure is not just a normal surgery, its one of the hardest and biggest surgery, according to the doctors it last about 6-8 hrs or 10-12 hrs and complications may arise during and after the surgery, a need for blood transfusion is also possible and he may need to stay in the ICU for close monitoring and they ask us to prepare atleast 400-500k for it.

The doctor discussed everything to us, what needs to be done, what are the possible complications, what should we expect during and after the sugery and the most hardest to accept is the possiblity that the mass is malignant.

February 7, 2019 he was scheduled for the surgery already at 7am. We are admitted February 5 in preparation for the surgery. The big day Feb. 7, OR nurses fetch him as early as 5:30 am the operation took 10hours but praise God it was successful, no complications during the surgery and he doesnt need to be brought in the ICU. It took him 8 hours on the recovery room because of his Bp shooting up but its stable now, he is still being monitored from time to time to avoid post operation complications. We are still waiting as well for the result of biopsy which we hardly pray thay its again benign.

Now, I created this fundraising page for his hospital and medical cost/expenses. Our family is knocking on you kind hearts for a little financial help to help us pay for the medical expenses most especially the hospital bill. The hospital always requires a bill update which means that we have to pay everytime the bill is already filing up, if we are unable to give the amount they require we will be tag as red tagged and we are not allowed to get medicines or to have laboratory test requested by the doctor to have it charge on the bill, we need to buy and pay it in cash real time, and this may cause delay of his medicines that may cause complications and its going to be a big problem and additional pain for my husband.
