Medical/Dental Treatment and Stroke Therapy

Hi. My name is Cherie. I used to work as an Editor/Writer for an online publication until I had a stroke.

I was bedridden for a long time. The stroke left me with serious mobility issues (hemiplegic) in my larm and while I can now lift my arm a little, I have never regained complete mobility. I need a quad-core cane to be able to walk, and recently have been in pain due to what seems to be a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Lifting my arm and exercising are difficult because the pain never goes away.

After I was discharged from the hospital, initially I attended therapy at a nearby hospital but eventually had to stop because it was just way too expensive. Physical therapy cost almost $100 per session and I had to attend three times a week, every week. Therapy, doctor's fees and medicine wiped out whatever small savings I had.

Because of the prohibitive cost, it has been a long time since I've been able to see a doctor (neurologist). Another thing I need is periodontal treatment, as well as major dental work to remake a badly done dental bridge which has now fallen off, leaving me with missing front teeth. Even when it was still attached it was very poorly made, didn't fit well and was made of low grade plastic, not porcelain.
