I have been working as a counselor for a number of years here in Dallas and after becoming sick and unable to work I lost my health insurance. I am in the great state of Texas and as such the medicaid subsidy that I currently recieve will not pay for my treatment. I have never had to ask anyone for help before and realize if the treatment isn't forthcoming I will not live long, need some help. This medical treatment is available now and I pray for the asistance to get this treament soon. Thank You for your support. The breakthrough drug Sovaldi is nothing short of a miracle for some hepatitis C patients, promising to cure more than 80 percent of cases in 12 weeks with few side effects. But at a cost of $1,000 a pill, it'll be a miracle if states can pay the unprecedented bill for the treatment. There is a growing backlash at the state level to Sovaldi's high price-tag. The full course of the treatment, including the companion drugs that must be taken along with it, runs about $100,000 per person. Insurance companies and large employers are balking at the cost, and states are at a loss at how to afford it.

  • Tim I'm honored to be the first to reply to your page. I too had Hep C but thanks be to God my wife got a job recently that had insurance to pay for my 3rd round of treatment which included Sovaldi. My total treatment was for 12 weeks and by my 6th week I was virus free. I had Geno type one which is the most complicated to treat. I was stage 3-4 and it was vital that I be treated at that time because I was at the point where my liver would have started to corrode. I have read about how insurances and Medicare would buck at the price of the drug and I'm really sorry to hear of your challenge. Frankly speaking I hadn't mentioned my situation to anyone except a few people in my family and a few friends. That is the reason why it is called a silent killer. It doesn't carry symptoms until it's final stages. There are 3-4 million people in the United States in which many don't know they have it. It is now killing more people than AIDS and is a true epidemic. Tim I don't have money to send your way but I'm here for moral support if you need or want it. I would start to speak to your local representatives if I were you and also contact the pharmaceutical company about resources to help you. They paid my 2600 dollar copayment check out this site here [email protected]. I encourage you to keep the faith and keep it positive. It helps. God bless bruh
