Campaign Story
I'm a 41 year old who, due to ongoing complications have sever issues in walking.
I have been told by my doctors that I should get a mobility scooter, but Social security says that I am “Not disabled enough.” So they will not approve me to get a much needed mobility device despite my doctors submitting multiple forms saying I do need one.
They cost several thousand dollars. And for someone who is on a fixed income due to my disability they might as well cost several million.
I’ve sold every think that I own of value and bought a used one on Craigslist for $700…
That promptly began falling apart, $300 each for new Wheels, $80 each for the batteries, and another $260 to fix the electrical short in the wiring harness.
it has gotten to the point that I just stay home, because if it stops working and I am not in the yard of the house I rent a room I will be stuck there with no way to get home.
So I have come to the citizens of the internet to help if they can.
I’m ashamed to ask other people for money. I’ve been taught that anyone who asks for money without the guarantee of anything in return is begging. And there is no lower feeling then being left to beg.
But that is where I am.
I am here to humbly ask you if you can give me, some stranger new to Downey, California for help raising enough money to buy a mobility scooter.
thank you for your time.
