Medical Research through in silico Protocols

This campaign is about using the scientific method to guide our work for improving the health of individuals and communities, having a good grasp of the principles of the scientific method, understanding the values as well as limitations of science and assessing and evaluating results of research before applying them. Research, proper research, goes through three basic steps – in vitro, in vivo, and clinical trial (in case drugs are being experimented on or identified for treatment purposes). In silico predictions can assist in the discovery of drug compounds that inhibit certain enzymes of certain microbiological organisms. It is done after a potential drug target such as an enzyme is known. Knowledge of potential drug targets is a vital step in designing and developing a novel drug exhibiting multi-drug resistance and unpleasant side effects. After the in silico screening, commercially available compounds can be procured and in vitro testing can be carried out for biological activity. These protocols can be done at home using a computer with an internet connection and this project intends to empower mothers who stay at home because of childcare concerns and can benefit Independent Contractors and startups anywhere in the world.
