His name is Reynaldo Borres. He is the most hardworking and life-loving person I have ever known. His optimism and determination have always been an inspiration to many people. I'm a proud daughter.

Our family has struggled over my father's lung sickness since I was in highschool, and now I'm 28. We go in and out of the hospital almost every 3 years and just recently he got confined again. It has been difficult for the family, but mostly, for him. He doesn't show it, but I know he still struggles to accept that his sickness is always gonna be part of our routine and probably is gonna be the story of the rest of his life.

I don't have any medical background and can only explain his condition based on how I understood the doctors who looked at him over the years. Everything was because of smoking. That is why I don't smoke. His right lung is now basically useless. It's now just an organ full of holes, that is rotten (for the lack of better term), and from time to time bleeds. Only the lower half of his left lung is properly functioning because the upper half starts to also show holes. Breathing has been a challenge and a privilege for him at the same time.

He got confined recently due to post-infectious bronchiectasis and pulmonary tuberculosis (I have attached the pictures of his CT scans and the doctor's diagnosis). Any disease that affects the lung, no matter how simple, could be fatal for him. And his constant hemoptysis (coughing of blood) also poses a real threat because any time the blood from his right lung can flow over to the left lung and possibly drown it and clog his airways. To avoid this, the doctor suggests that we get his right lung completely removed as soon as possible. The doctor said it will cost at least 150,000 pesos (or approximately 3000 USD) for the operation alone and on top of that there will be more medication.

Our family usually gets by over these things on our own, using savings and insurance, but the operation will cost way more that what we can afford now. This is why we are knocking on your kind hearts. I hope it's not too much.

I thank you for your time and kindness with all my heart.
