My name is Wesley Spinks and this is my story. I just found out August 29/2014 I have Non-alcoholic Cirrhosis of the liver and will die from it unless I get a liver transplant within the next year. It is one of the scariest things I could of ever of heard in my life. I was told by the specialist’s that the average Liver should only weigh 3lbs 1oz and mine was just over 42lbs, causing other complications as it is pushing against other organs in my body causing more health issues, I also have developed Hepatitis C in the Liver because of the Non-alcoholic Cirrhosis. The specialist and doctors have a plan that they feel could help prolong my life span past a year maybe even two giving me a fighting chance, as the transplant list in Alberta is a 3 year wait and I have been given a year to live.I was told by the specialist and doctor and dietician I need a complete diet change and exercise program with someone who can train me (personal trainer) because of my health issues. As well I need certain medication’s that will help prolong the life of my Liver. The problem I am having is that the lifesaving medications are not covered by any form of coverage I have and are very high priced. I can’t afford the Medication I need to live longer or the gym membership or a personal trainer who specializes in training people who are terminally ill or the high prices of eating healthier which the doctor’s all need me to do.I lost my job due to my terminal illness because most days it is hard to get out of bed and I couldn’t work full days so I was dismissed. This is all because my Liver is starting to fail and I was told by the specialist & Doctors this is normal for this disease and things are not going to get better unless I get the medication and exercise and start eating the list of foods they gave me. Anyone of you who is reading this right now knows that eating healthier in today’s society is very expensive and a gym membership and full time personal trainer is not cheap, especially when you are terminally ill, as it takes more time to get through exercise routines so it cost a bit more for a trainer. My wish is to meet my goal of $6000.00 so I can get the medication I need and a membership with a full time trainer so I have a fighting chance to beat this debilitating disease, and for me to beat it long enough to receive a Liver. To anyone of you who can find it in your hearts to donate to me and help out a fellow human being, in his war against Non- alcoholic cirrhosis thank you for giving me a fighting chance at life. Hope is a Wonderful Word but I really need Action.
