Medical Funds for Nanay Rita

Hi guys! My lola, Rita Mendoza, was diagnosed with Lumbar Sacral Mass (Stage 4 Cancer) in 2012 so she underwent radiations, operations and several treatments. The tumor disappeared immediately but in 2017, the tumor recurred. Nanay Rita underwent herbal treatment because she did not want the burden to undergo another surgery considering the expenses and risk of not being able to walk after the surgery. However, in Feb 2020, the tumor bursted which resulted to a more complicated situation. It was constantly bleeding and all we can do was to clean it thoroughly whenever it bleeds. In May 2020, her wound bled extremely and it was her first time to see such amount of blood over her body. We suspected that because of what she saw, her blood pressure went up which resulted to stroke.

It was May 11 when she had the stroke. She was immediately taken to MCU, but she got rejected for having Pneumonia at the same time. They suspected it to be a COVID-19 related case, so the hospital staff told my mom that their COVID-19 wards/isolation area are full and we had to transfer to other hospitals. Nanay Rita hasn't gone out of her room since the pandemic and we actually didn't think that the Pneumonia was related to COVID-19, but we had no choice but to follow their protocols. We then went to Chinese Gen where they told us the same. My mom called some relatives to ask for assistance and soon discovered that VRP Medical Center in Mandaluyong can accomodate us. Nanay Rita was in the ICU for almost 4 days where they charge roughly Php 50,000.00 per day including the medicines she needed to take. She was then transferred to a regular room for PUI patients. It was cheaper than the ICU but no one could visit her until the COVID-19 results come out. After she tested negative from COVID-19, she was transferred once again to a regular room. Having her tested negative was a huge relief for us, but there are still a lot of tests that she needs to have for her Lumbar Sucral Mass and her stroke like Cranial, Abdominal and Chest CT Scans. She also needs blood transfusions because of her tumor's constant bleeding. We have been in the hospital for more than a week now and the bills were as high as Php 300,000.00, excluding the doctor fees and upcoming tests which cost Php 10,000.00 - 20,000.00 each. She also have to undergo therapies because the stroke temporarily paralyzed the left side of her body and she also experiences difficulty to talk and to chew and swallow food.

Nanay Rita is a kind hearted woman who raised the strongest mom we could ever have. However, no matter how strong you may be, you may feel weak when your loved ones are in a condition like this. My mom will be celebrating her birthday on May 30 and it has always been her plan to do charitable things on her birthday. She has also done some outreach programs during the quarantine period. She actually is too shy to bother other people and ask for help, but I really think that we need this one. Any amount of donations will be highly appreciated. Small donations, when put together, will still result to a bigger one ❤️
