Thirteen years ago, Nkrumah was diagnosed with renal failure, which led to hospitalization for a two-week period. Since that time, with the help of prescribed medication and constant consultation with his physician, his prognosis was fair and his health stabilized.

Three years ago, during one of his follow-up doctor's visits, he was advised that although his vitals were acceptable, the functioning of his kidneys were of serious concern and that he needed additional medication to sustain him. However, as a result of the pandemic and associated Covid-19 Protocols, his in-person doctor's visits ceased but he continued to take his medications.

Approximately six months ago, he experienced an accelerated amount of weight loss accompanied by weakness and a general feeling of discomfort. After undergoing several tests, it was determined that Nkrumah has End Stage Renal Disease (Stage 5). His doctor also advised that there are some concerns with his heart.

Hours after receiving the diagnosis, Nkrumah experienced a seizure at home and was admitted to hospital in critical condition. As a result of the very poor condition of his kidneys, Nkrumah Jr. had to be given urgent surgery to prepare him for dialysis.

Nkrumah is now out of hospital and continues with hemodialysis three times per week. He will soon begin peritoneal dialysis. This treatment will be done at home four times per day, and has been determined by his doctor to be the best option for him.

We would greatly appreciate it if you would provide financial assistance to Nkrumah, in order for him to obtain the necessary treatments and medications for this life-threatening illness. We thank you in advance for giving as generously as your means would allow. Your financial support means a lot to us, and Nkrumah will forever owe you a debt of gratitude.
