Medical Fundraiser for Lola Mang

Our beloved 98-year old grandmother, Mang, has been diagnosed with vascular dementia a year ago, a medical condition where blood flow to the brain is compromised, drastically affecting her cognition and memory. Thankfully, she was able to cope after a brief period of hospitalization, and is under additional maintenance medications for her dementia, hypertension, and heart condition.

Recently, Mang sustained a lumbar (lower back) fracture from a fall, which caused her to be put abed with limited mobility; this potentially triggered a trail of events that led to her developing an infection (pneumonia), loss of appetite, and electrolyte imbalance, for which she was brought to the hospital and eventually confined. On her admission, Mang was observed to have intestinal obstruction, which complicated her clinical situation, including feeding and nutrition, and soon she was hooked to a mechanical ventilator (MV) to aid her breathing. She was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital for more than a week, but with God’s grace, has demonstrated remarkable progress in her clinical signs and symptoms. She was weaned off from the MV as her condition improves further and will soon be ready to go home.

Our family's funds was exhausted as we work together to support her medical expenses. We, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, are creating items and sell them via the Facebook page, Meaningful And Nifty Gifts (https://web.facebook.com/forlolamang/), to help with the bills. We have also received help from close relatives and friends who have generously shared their blessings with us. Still, the bills are piling up faster than we can raise the funds.

Our beloved Mang is a fighter. We are humbly asking for your assistance so we could bring Mang home from the hospital and ensure that she continues to receive the medical care she needs as she continues to recover at home.
