Hi, this is DozySlumbers, also known in real life as Adriel Gian Lomibao.

(Updated/overhaul of story, 4/23/2024)

My late father, Abner George Lomibao was rushed to the emergency room of the Lung Center of the Philippines on February 15, 2024. He had critical symptoms, severe difficulty in breathing along with cough and phlegm. The main cause was a tumor that grew in the mediastinal area (in-between the lungs, not inside the lungs), at the time the tumor already grew to about 10cm and it pushed his airway to the right and obstructed it as well, hence the difficulty in breathing.

He was then admitted into the respiratory ICU. A bronchoscopy biopsy procedure was done on February 29, 2024 and initial results have shown that the tumor was Malignant, however they didn't know what type of malignancy is it, therefore, tests had to be conducted on the sample to know what kind of cancer is it. Speculations were: Lymphoma, Thymic/Thymoma, and Germ Cell Tumor.

We were told that results would come around 7-14 days.

Unfortunately, as time went on my dad's condition started to become worse as he has been on the mechanical ventilator for too long and infections have started to appear. He was not able to be weaned off (be removed) from the ventilator. We faced what I would call a stalemate situation, where nothing could be done to treat him. He can't undergo chemotherapy because there was no final biopsy result and he had an infection. He had an infection because of being on the ventilator for too long. He can't be removed from the ventilator due to his main condition of the malignant tumor.

It was a cycle of problems that goes back to the starting point.

14 Working days have passed. No biopsy results still. It has been a month since his entry into this hospital. Our hospital bill was becoming really concerning. And my dad's condition continued to worsen as his malignant tumor progressed as well as his infection all over his body. Various procedures had to be done to him to keep him alive. Medication had to keep going, and it was getting expensive. The hospital had to rely on me for medication and supplies that was not available there, using our own resources. I bought what I could. I made the effort to do all these things that they ask...

Unfortunately, on April 4, 2024. He passed away. His tumor progressed to the point that it spread to his brain. It was of stage 4 variety. But even at the time of this writing, we never knew what kind of cancer it was. The biopsy result was never completed.

No words can describe the storm of mixed emotions, and how shattered/fractured my mental state is. I never got a proper time to grieve either as we immediately prepared the funeral and burial. Our hospital bill is on promissory note. He was brought to our province where he grew up. He was buried there on April 11, 2024.

Now, we face an extremely rough time financially as we look for ways to pay off the hospital bill. For transparency, our hospital bill is around P2,000,000. However, as he is considered a charity patient, we are in a program that will deduct 75% off the final hospital bill. At the moment it is not deducted until we can get all the help/assistance we can get from government entities, and that will take a long while...

On estimate we would be looking at around P400,000 - P500,000 after the 75% deduction and all the medical assistance we can get from the government. However, as my dad is the sole breadwinner in the family, and I'm mostly supporting... we still cannot afford to pay off such an amount.

Please consider donating or share this fundraiser around. Please help us pay off the hospital bill that my late dad had left behind. Every little bit helps! Any extra donations will be used for our basic needs and help with our utility bills.

Thank you very much!

February 27, 2024Our main goal this day was to be able to talk to our consultant doctor. And I was able to. The doctor was straightforward, and made sense. Bronchoscopy biopsy was suggested because it's a fast method for getting diagnosis on such cases like my Dad's. If his condition. . . . .

Though there are still other sample slides to check.February 25, 2024I managed to talk with the doctor and she said that they still can't find conclusive results with the biopsy, so she's referring to do more. . . . .

February 21, 2024Dad went through a testicular ultrasound procedure to check if the possible cause of the tumor is there. There is a thing called "germ cell" tumor which originates from down in the testicles, believe me I was surprised myself when I did research on this. Then I managed. . . . .
