Medical Fund for Belle Donna Fordyce Punch

My name is Belle Donna Punch. I reside in Nassau, Bahamas. Most persons from Guyana know me as Donna Fordyce. In December 2021 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer called mycosis fungoides, blood cancer. This was after visiting the dermatological clinic for three years. I was misdiagnosed and this can be since it manifests in the skin. As a result, I was treated for various skin conditions but my situation only worsened.

I began itching from head to toe. I developed lesions (deep cuts) on the soles of my feet and hands. In these areas the skin hardened so the breakages came easy. These lesions/cuts are deep and bleed easily. I have to treat each painful cut every night to avoid infection. I developed abscesses throughout my body. I was treated with antibiotics and they disappeared, or, so I thought. The PET scan that was suggested by the oncologist showed that I have lymph nodes on my spleen, groin, underarm etc. Then I developed boils along my eyelids that were full of stuff that caused my eyes to stick close. I have a perpetual ear and eye infection. My skin texture has changed to a rubbery/plastic feeling. My hair started falling out ( not sure if it is because of the itching or the abscesses); my skin has darkened as a result of the blemishes/ itchy patches. It is not an easy situation to endure.

I had a biopsy of the lymph node in my groin done and fortunately the results revealed that it was not cancerous. It was good news for me, but for the oncologist, there was a lost opportunity to stage the cancer. My body is going through a lot and the added stress of everyday living caused a stroke that temporarily affected my right side. There are some residual effects but praise be to God, my heart and brain were not impacted. I wish to experience a better quality of life so I don't want to take anything for granted. I wish to seek medical assistance in the United States of America where research is ongoing. However, before I could go off the oncologist in Nassau decided that I should begin chemotherapy immediately. My first session is scheduled for Monday, May 30, 2022.
