Campaign Story
On Thursday, February 9, Kaycie Foster, our adored sister, daughter, and friend, took her baby, Kolton, to the doctor for his routine 9-month check-up. Within an hour, the Foster family's world was turned upside down.
The doctor felt a lump in Kolton's stomach and after an ultrasound, they were sent directly to Phoenix Children's Hospital, where a CT Scan determined that the mass in Kolton's belly was the size of a baseball. For the next six days, they waited for the doctors to determine an action plan. The mass was quite an anomoly, in a peculiar spot, and wrapped up in blood vessels. It was also growing and beginning to push into his lungs, which were already congested with a virus. Finally, Kolton underwent surgery to try and remove it, and we have learned that the mass was indeed cancer--a germ cell tumor.
