Hi everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to read about this campaign to help my brother, Arnanto, who lives in Indonesia. For many, many years he's been suffering from a terrible mental illness called Bipolar (manic depressive).  It is an illness that effects your ability to live normally, as you can swing from depression to mania episodes so easily.  During an episode of depression you could feel suicidal and during an episode of mania, you could feel very high/happy but also could get angry easily and even experience symptoms of psychosis (where you see/hear things that aren't there or become convinced of things that aren't true).  At one point my brother didn't speak for 3 months!

Unfortunately, in Indonesia mental illness is almost taboo.  My Parents were embarrassed and they couldn't always afford the treatment either, so Arnanto's illness was getting worse & worse and he only started getting the proper help about 5 years ago.  But in the past few years he's been staying at a rehab centre, because he can't live on his own. Our Parents are dead and I live in UK.  My husband & I have been helping my family financially as much as we could for almost 20 years now, and although we'd love to carry on, we simply can't afford it at the moment.  So, although it was a difficult decision, we have no choice but to ask for your support, for Arnanto's sake.

Message from Dara (Arnanto's daughter):  Please help my Dad stay at the rehab centre, apart from my Aunty in UK, he has no body else to help him.  I'm still at college, working during the day and studying at night, so I can barely afford to support myself.... I love my Dad, I wish I could afford to help him, I wish we didn't have to ask people's support .... from the bottom of my heart, thank you.  Any support, however small, will be appreciated and we'll be forever grateful.  Once we're in a better position, we will repay people's generosity somehow, by helping others in need.
