Every year, Dad is doing APE (Annual Physical Exam) to make sure that everything is well since he has health insurance. When they got the result of his ECG and TMT, they found out that there’s a blockage in one artery. So they went to another cardiologist doctor to ask for a second opinion and made some investigations. It was late 2019 when he had his angiography test to examine his heart's blood vessels. The result was that one of his arteries has 80% blockage and the doctor suggested that he should undergo urgent angioplasty. And that same day, Dad was admitted and had the operation that cost half a million. After the successful procedure, he has to take medicines for his maintenance.

Early 2020, he felt some itchiness all over his body. They consulted different dermatologists to have him checked but all prescriptions didn't helped. Day by day they noticed that Dad’s skin is becoming yellowish or what they call jaundice. They consulted a specialist and did multiple investigation which was very costly even though he has health insurance and not all investigation is covered. Results showed that he has a problem of malignant obstructive jaundice on his biliary duct. Surgery is the primary treatment for this but Dad is unable to do so. Urgent treatment is needed to improve his hepatic function. He lost weight and no appetite because of his condition. PTBD or Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drainage and Stenting are the other treatment for his case. The doctor tried to do the stenting but unfortunately it was not successful. The second option is the PTBD, a small tube inserted to the side of his stomach and a drainage bag outside. This is difficult for Dad because it is prone to infection. While having his PTBD, he needs to do blood test just to make sure there’s no bacteria and infection. It is also required to change the tube inserted to him every six (6) months as per IR doctors.

Late 2020 when all the investigations were done, they found out on his CT scan result that there is a mass/tumor on his pancreas and my brother needs to go and check from different Specialists to know the real diagnosis and this is the start of our real fight. Since its pandemic, we are having a hard time to send dad in the hospital for consultation. They were in TeleConsult most of the time. Dad has to consult a lot of specialists like Cardiologist, Gastro, Dietitian, IR doctor in different hospitals to know the final diagnosis. Lessen the food intake and other food are not allowed especially those with sugar. Just to make sure that the tumor will not grow or get bigger. We started buying organic foods for him. It came to a point that we consulted naturopathic doctors for herbal supplements. We tried if it can cure the tumor.

End of April 2021, when Dad felt that he’s feeling bloated even though he only ate a small amount of food. As time passes by he continue losing weight and vomiting every 2-3 days that can cause dehydration. My brother spent a lot of time researching other possible ways to know why Dad's condition is getting bad. He searched for different Gastro to consult Dad's condition. The doctor prescribed TPN since he cannot eat and digest normally.

Now Dad is admitted in the hospital. They did more blood checkup, endoscopy procedures and biopsy. Results came out that it is CANCER and he needs to undergo chemotherapy and sadly the hospital only accept cash basis and does not accept health insurance. That’s why we decided to make this fundraising campaign.

The money that will be raised here will go toward Dad's everyday medical expenses, medications and future treatments especially now that he needs to undergo chemotherapy. Please forward this to as many people as possible and encourage friends to do the same. As a community, we can help my brother with the financial burden that lies ahead so Dad can focus on his recovery and together we can help him win this battle.
