My Name is Drake Lujan,I Am A Year Old & This Is My Story.I Was Recently Diagnosed With Kawasaki’s Disease & We will get back to what that is alittle later so we Can Start At The Beginning.So I Started Having Fevers On & Off For 3 Whole Days,Red Eyes,Body Rash,Cracked Lips&Red Tongue.I couldn’t eat,barely could drink & just had plenty of restless nights.Mommy & Daddy Knew Something Was Wrong,So they Took Me To The Hospital . At First The Doctors Couldn’t Figure Out What Was Going On With Me.They Ran Some Tests To Rule Out Every Possibility.After Those Tests Came Back Normal,With My Symptoms,They Had An Idea Of What it May Be.But in Order To Confirm Their Theory,An Echocardiogram(Ultrasound Of The Heart)Had To Be Done.My Results Came Back & The Doctors Had Said That The Blood Vessel in My Heart Was Alittle Dilated & From there I was diagnosed With Kawasaki’s Disease. Kawasaki’s Disease Is a rare childhood illness that affects the blood vessels.This disease can harm the coronary arteries,which carries blood to the heart muscle.There are 2 treatments for Kawasaki’s . First one is called IVIG . This is given through a vein to reduce inflammation of the boood vessel . They Gave me this medication in the hospital . It was given through my IV & It took 10hours to complete this treatment . The second one is aspirin to help with pain,fever & to lower the risk of blood clots.I have to take this at home for 2 Whole Months . I have to continuously get echocardiograms done to see if these medications are doing its job. Which is to bring that vessel back to normal. Also Follow ups So The Doctors Can Keep a Close Eye On My Heart Because This Disease Can Lead To Heart Problems As I Grow Older . My Family & I Are Seeking Help For Medical Bills .
