John Paul Manalo - Akim to his family, Japoy to his friends, and Teacher John to his former students - needs your help.

A few days ago, he was having a hard time in breathing and standing, and his lower body was bloated. He was rushed to a local infirmary in Los Baños Laguna but was decided to be transferred to the ICU of a private hospital, The Medical City South Luzon Santa Rosa Laguna, where his condition will be handled better. His admitting diagnosis shows that he has a suspected Atrial Septal Defect (a hole in the heart) and Pleural Effusion Bilateral (fluid in both lungs).

Japoy’s medical expenses are skyrocketing, and his family is struggling to keep up with the bills. The ICU is an expensive place to be in and his family is in dire need of financial assistance.

His working diagnosis as of the moment shows a Bilateral Pleural Effusion (fluid in both lungs), Right-sided Heart Failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Acute Kidney Injury resolving. Operation for removal of fluid from the lungs was done on Feb 19 (Sunday) and went well. He is still to undergo additional tests to see what is the problem in his heart.

As of now, Japoy was transferred to the ICU of a government hospital, Tondo Medical Center, due to the family’s struggle in keeping up with the medical bills in the private hospital.

As of Feb 20, 2023 (Mon) Japoy has a bill of Php 286,935.55 in the private hospital alone, and Php 21,900 for the catheters used in draining the fluid in both lungs plus a total of Php 60,000 for the professional fee of the doctor who did the draining procedure.

We would like to solicit your prayers as well as financial help.

Thank you very much.
